Our 5th grade students stepped into the shoes of Lewis and Clark this week, embarking on an on-campus expedition rooted in classical education. With journals and pencils in hand, they documented the flora, fauna, infrastructure, and signs of culture they encountered—just as the Corps of Discovery once did!
This integrated lesson beautifully wove together history, nature study, and the art of observation, encouraging students to slow down, look closely, and connect the past to the present. Classical education at its best: cultivating wonder, forming habits of attention, and inspiring a lifelong love of learning.
