As a culminating activity on the Crusades, our 3rd graders crafted shields that beautifully integrated History, Religion, and Math.
They discovered that Crusades comes from the Latin word Crux, meaning cross – a symbol the Pope told the Crusaders to wear as they fought to reclaim the Holy Land.
Applying their recent math lessons, students used standard and metric measurements to design a cross template for their shields. Rulers, faith, and creativity all came together!
