O Mary! We Crown Thee with Blossoms Today!

Following Mass this morning, our school community remained in the church to honor Mary, the Mother of Christ, with a beautiful May Crowning.  May Crowning is a cherished ritual in the Roman Catholic tradition.  It is observed during the month of May, a month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.  It includes Marian hymns, prayers, and a solemn procession.  It concludes with the crowning of a statue of Mary with a crown of flowers, honoring her as the "Queen of May."  This act of reverence and devotion reminds us of Mary's unique role in salvation history and her eternal queenship in heaven.  '


There is a profound significance attached to the act of crowning Mary.  In doing so, we acknowledge her as the perfect disciple of Christ, who is the ultimate "crown" of creation and a central figure in the divine plan of redemption.  
At St. Ann Classical Academy, the May Crowning holds a special place in our hearts.  It is a time honored tradition that allows our community to come together in prayer, honoring the mother of our Savior.   For or 8th grade students, being chosen to paricipate in the May Crowning ceremony is a great honor and privilge.  It is a responsibility they embrace with reverance.

As we reflect on today's May Crowning ceremony, we are reminded of the beauty and richness of our Catholic faith. We are blessed to be part of a community that cherishes these timeless traditions, passing them down from generation to generation. 

In honoring Mary today, we renew our commitment to follow her example of love, obedience, and humility. May her intercession guide us always closer to her Son, Jesus Christ, who is the source of our salvation and the true King of all creation. Amen.
